The Sanctuary of Truth

The immense wooden structure is covered in intricate hand-carved sculptures inspired by Thai Buddhist, Hindu, Brahmanical, Khmer and Chinese traditions. Visitors can see Buddha figures, Bodhisattvas, Hindu deities, celestial beings, mythical creatures, elephants and symbolic representations of the cosmos, all integrated into an extraordinary architectural composition. Traditional woodcarving techniques are central to the experience, with the building itself serving as a living demonstration of Thai craftsmanship and continuing artisanal practice. The sanctuary carries a deeper philosophical message concerning life, morality, spirituality and humanity's relationship with the universe. Lan Pho Na Kluea Market

Fresh fish, prawns, crabs, shellfish and other seafood can be seen alongside dried fish, dried squid, dried shrimp and other locally prepared products. The market provides an authentic glimpse into Na Kluea's traditional identity as a coastal fishing community and allows visitors to observe the everyday relationship between local people, the sea and food. Wat Phra Yai

The hilltop temple is dominated by a monumental golden Buddha image seated in the Māravijaya posture, with the right hand touching the ground. This gesture represents the Buddha calling the earth to witness his spiritual victory over Māra and is one of the most recognisable iconographic forms in Thai Buddhist art. The site provides an opportunity to observe Buddhism as a living religious tradition, rather than simply as architecture or heritage. Devotees come to pray, make offerings, light incense and pay respects to Buddha images, reflecting the continuing importance of merit-making and devotional practice in Thai society.

Wang Sam Sien

bringing together elements of Chinese Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and traditional Chinese folk beliefs. At its heart is a majestic Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy and Compassion) overlooking a peaceful lotus pond, where visitors can observe devotees offering incense and prayers for peace, health and protection. Throughout the grounds are statues of important Chinese religious and historical figures, including the Three Immortals (Hok Lok Siu), representing prosperity, status and longevity, as well as Tang Sanzang and his disciples, including figures associated with the legendary Journey to the West. Statues of Confucius and Lao Tzu highlight China's philosophical traditions, while a detailed display of the 24 Filial Exemplars presents traditional stories emphasising respect, gratitude and duty toward parents and elders. The park also contains a prominent bronze statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, commemorating the founding father of modern China. Set within landscaped gardens and designed with traditional Chinese architectural and Feng Shui principles, the complex offers visitors a glimpse into China's religious, philosophical and historical heritage.

Wat Chai Mongkhon

Recognised as a 3rd Class Royal Temple (Phra Aram Luang), the temple is an important Buddhist institution in Pattaya and reflects the continuing relationship between Thai Buddhism, community life and royal patronage. Visitors can see the traditional ubosot (ordination hall), Buddha images, monastic buildings, shrines and devotional spaces, including the revered Buddha Chai Mongkhon image, traditionally associated with Ayutthaya. Beyond its architectural and artistic features, the temple remains a place of worship, merit-making, ceremonies and community activity, offering an opportunity to experience Thai Theravada Buddhism as a living tradition within modern Pattaya.

Wat Nong Oo

Wat Nong Oo is a living Buddhist centre in Pattaya known for its ornate Golden Dhamma Pavilion, richly decorated with gilded stucco symbolising the beauty and sanctity of the Buddha’s teachings. The temple houses sacred images such as the Reclining Buddha Ratchasan Mingmongkol, representing the Buddha’s final passing into Parinibbana, as well as revered monks including Luang Pu Mun, Luang Pho Ngoen and Luang Pu Sodh, reflecting the importance of spiritual lineages in Thai Buddhism. It also illustrates the syncretic nature of Thai religious practice, with veneration of Ganesha, Thao Wessuwan and Phra Rahu alongside Theravada Buddhist traditions, representing beliefs in wisdom, protection, prosperity, fate and overcoming misfortune. Above all, Wat Nong Oo remains an active community temple where devotees practise daily merit-making (tham bun) through offerings, prayers, and even funerals.

Phra Tamnak Viewpoint

The elevated viewpoint provides a broad panorama of Pattaya Bay, the city, coastline and Gulf of Thailand, with Jomtien and Koh Lan visible under favourable conditions. The hill also has an important spiritual and cultural dimension, with Buddhist sites in the surrounding area connecting the landscape to religious devotion. The wider Khao Phra Tamnak area includes Wat Khao Phra Bat and Buddhist devotional features, while the monument to Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse connects the hill with Thailand's naval and national heritage. The site therefore brings together Buddhism, landscape, national remembrance and modern Pattaya, making the viewpoint useful for understanding the city in a broader Thai cultural context.
